This Could Be YOU!

In honor of someone near and dear to all of our hearts in Bayview. Enjoy.

"I have been in many places but I've never been in Cahoots. Apparently you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone. I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there.

I have, however; been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work. I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I'm not too much on physical activity anymore.

I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go and I try not to visit there too often. I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm. Sometimes I'm in Capable and I go there more often as I'm getting older.

One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get! I may have been in Continent but don't remember what country I was in. It's an age thing.

PLEASE DO YOUR PART!

Today is supposedly one of the many National Mental Health Days throughout the year. You can do your bit by remembering to send an e-mail to at least one unstable person. My job is done! Life is too short for negative drama & petty things. So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly! From one unstable person to another...

I hope everyone is happy in your head - we're all doing pretty good in mine!"

The night the lights went out in Bayview

Some of us remember the song The Night the Lights Went Out In Georgia. This morning the drive through town was very dark. The street lights were turned off because the Chamber cannot get any permanent help to pay for the lights all year long. Donations have been appreciated and applauded but a permanent solution needs to be found.

Four of the lights are on property owned by Scenic Bay/JD's Resort/The Bay Cafe and the owner responded that "he didn't care." Personally I feel those lights should be left off.

Please come to the Chamber meeting on the 10th of April, the Chamber needs to find a permanent solution or the Bayview will remain very dark indeed!

The Clanton's

I received this email from Cindy Grandy. The Clanton's lost their home. Looks like construction is finally done and now they need furniture. Anyone wishing to help or need to sell, please contact Cindy.

"I'm helping Bertha and Roy Clanton (their house burned to the ground last August). They need dressers and all kinds of furniture. She's a thrift shopper, garage saler, etc. If you have any items you'd like to sell, please contact me at 683-1859 or you can call her directly at 683-3249. Their house is almost ready to move into and I'm sure they're relieved. It's been a helluva seven months for them."

Hammer Attack

While reading the online version of the CDA Press today I found an article concerning the Bayview Hammer Attack that occurred December of 2010 and the resulting death of one of the victims.

Mr. Cragun plead guilty to the charges and is now awaiting sentencing.

It is my pray that the victims can now start the healing process.
RIP Patti.

Instant Replay

Well maybe not instant replay but there will be another public hearing at Lakes Highway on March 12 5:30pm concerning the easement proposed by Scenic Bay Marina and JD's Resort for the Buttonhook liquor license. The Resort license was allowed to expire and with the expiration a new avenue is required.

If you are in favor or against come to the meeting to express your view.

I am not opposed to the "Hook" getting a liquor license but I am concerned at what cost to this request will be to the community and the public. Both entities, the Hook and the Floating need to be operational again.

Lakes Highway District is re-opening the 2/20/12 hearing to exchange title to part of the 5th & Lakeside intersection for an easement.

  • Mr. Chan Karupiah is asking to obtain title to a 10’ wide strip of land between the Buttonhook and Harborview Marina in exchange for a highway easement over the strip.
  • The purpose is to obtain a liquor license for the Buttonhook.
  • The liquor license for the Buttonhook expired.
  • Grandfathering of requirements no longer exists, current license requirements now must be met.
  • The Buttonhook is required to demonstrate it is a Waterfront Resort to be considered for a Liquor License.
  • It is not clear that title to the strip of land will meet all Liquor License requirements. The Buttonhook does not have Littoral rights, boat slips, adequate parking, etc.
  • This seems an issue between the Buttonhook and the Liquor License folks, and should not involve Lakes Highway District.
  • Should Lakes Highway District give the title to a part of 5th & Lakeside in exchange for an easement for a questionable benefit to one business?"
