Donald “Skip” Wilcox Memorial Service

Memorial Service

Friday, May 31^st at 7:00 P.M.

Ceremonial boat ride will take place in the Peaceful Warrior with Kevin Elmore at the helm.  This will start when the Peaceful Warrior comes out of its slip at MacDonald’s with family on board.  For those that would like to follow the Peaceful Warrior on Friday evening, please plan on being on your boats in the bay close to MacDonald’s by 7:00 p.m.  Skip’s boat will be leaving MacDonald’s between 7:00 and 7:30 once everyone is on board.  Please do not pull into MacDonald’s marina as not to interrupt any business taking place with customers and marina staff.

Venue - Indoor / Outdoor Memorial Service – Bayview Community Center  

Saturday, June 1st at 1:00 P.M.

• Kathy Wilcox will open the ceremony
• Chuck Murray will raise the flag and Kathy will lead the Pledge of Allegiance
• Judy Gullidge - National Anthem
• Opening speech by Kathy Wilcox
• Each one of Skip’s girls will speak after their mother.
• Prayer
• The floor will then be opened for those who wish to speak.
• Mingle time for family and friends with finger foods, coffee and punch. A slide show will be playing inside the Community Center throughout this celebration of an incredible man that touched so many lives.
• Closing with the lowering of the flag by Chuck Murray and Taps played by Alexis Berube on the trumpet.

For those of you that wish to do something in honor of Skip, the family has requested that non-perishable food or cash donations be brought to the Community Center for the local food bank at the time of the memorial.  Containers will be available to accept donations.  Financial donations are also being accepted by the Bayview Community Center Foundation which will go towards a memorial plaque to be secured on the memorial wall in the Community Center garden.  Additional funds will go toward acquiring a baby swing at the Bayview Community Park, which will complete the swing-set that Skip work so hard to get added as a feature to the park.  Any donations made to the “Skip Wilcox Memorial Fund” are tax deductible. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 121, Bayview, ID 83803 C/O The Bayview Chamber of Commerce.

The family has also requested that if anyone would like to help with the service, it would be greatly appreciated if folks could bring finger food type items to share at the service on Saturday.  Please bring your snack to the Community Center prior to the beginning of the service.  Ideas are cookies, vegetable trays, fruit trays, meat and or cheese trays, and crackers to name a few.  No hot dishes or salads, please.

 
God has truly blessed us by having Skip touch our lives, so in his honor, be sure and give someone a hug every day and tell them to “Have a Beautiful Day."

This is sent on behalf of Skip's daughters, Jenny, Julie, Jill, and Joanna.  Individuals will need to note in the memo "Skip Wilcox Memorial Fund" and donations are tax deductible under the Foundation.

 

Memorial donations go to the Center Foundation earmarked "Skip Wilcox Memorial Fund".

• Cover the cost of the plaque for the memorial garden.
• Further donations to the baby swing at the Bayview park.
• If there are more funds raised, she would like that held until such time she has had the opportunity to speak with her sisters.

Hobart Jenkins, news from his family

  Yesterday marked one week that Hobe has been in his new location at Patriots Glen in Bellevue.  His family has been working to get him the care and support he needs. We have scheduled medical evaluations, resulting in a new care plan.  The staff is anxious to help him adjust to his new surroundings. He has little strength in his legs or arms and cannot stand on his own. He gets around in a wheel chair needing assistance to transfer to a recliner or bed. He is hoping to get a power wheel chair so he doesn't have to ask for as much help from staff.  He has at least one family member visiting every day. He lights up when the great grandchildren come to visit. He participates in the all daily activities of the facility so has limited nap time.  His memory is good for a lot of past history but is having trouble with more recent events, like what he had for lunch.  One resident has shown interest in his past, since they have some relatives in common from the St. John area.  As expected he misses his friends in north Idaho.  Hobe loves to watch the Mariners, and a few good movies, but would prefer to have visitors.  His hearing loss is something that we can address now that he is closer to family. He has a new phone number 425-429-6429  this is a land line number not a cell phone, the cell phone was too hard to push the right button.  The phone is next to his chair so he can reach it if he is in his room.  We still need to work on getting him to access voice mail so if you call and don't get him please call back. We will be canceling his cell phone. He does not have an email account at this time.  You can send him a note  via mail at my address:
