Last night was the Chamber meeting. All seemed to go well unitl Chuck Waller stood up and made an announcement about the coming rate hike. Folks wanted to ask questions and were told that any questions needed to be asked at the Water Board meeting. I could not help but wonder just why the announcment even came up at the Chamber meeting if we were not allowed to ask questions, hmm. Still makes me scratch my head in wonder. A couple of folks in the audience were not willing to accept that answer and the crowd started reminding me of Chamber meetings in the past. I know the Bylaws were re-written this year and I thought that the "Member at Large" was supposed to maintain order, but I guess that only is in some instances.
Anyway there is a meeting being held Tuesday at the Bayview Water and Sewer building, course the meeting is at 3:30 which leaves out any of us who are working. "Good ole Boys"?
Still do not understand why Bob Holland name is mentioned. I think a few in the community need to let go of the past and move forward. And who is responsible for carrying grudges?
We also listened to the local fisheries report. The lake level this year will be at 2051 but really needs to be at 2055 because guess what? we have more Kokanee spawning. I still say and will continue to say that Mother Nature gets aggravated when we mess with her. It is not nice to mess with her. Sooo we will be planting eggs in streams to compensate. More head scratching from me. We get the bed of the lake cleaned up, the Kokanee start producing more, and now we are messing with them again.
But what really thrilled me was the presentation of the new proposed improvements to the Community Center, understand of course that the Community Center may have a shortfall in funds and just who is going to support this new project? Do we really expect businesses to come to Bayview and rent the Community Center? More head scratching on my part.
The welcome mat coming into Bayview was rolled up and put away. Has a feasability study been undertaken to find out whether renting the Center is even possible. A turkey fryer to purchase? Come on guys, you all did not want anybody coming to town and changing things and who is doing the changing now?

Waterfront
Remeber you heard this first from me.
Lake Breeze, formerly Boileau's was sold. Looks like some fantastic new owners will be taking care of the divided marina.
Bayview may still have a chance for survival.

September Equinox
Seems that I have largely ignored my musings, time has slipped away, and I find that fall is upon us. Sure could not tell that today, the day was very warm.
For those of you following Yvonne Wallis and Herb Huseland's assistance I have started a fund for him. Herb took money out of his pocket, he is living on a fixed income, and drove Yvonne to Seattle for her recent medical care. Anyone who wishes to assist can either contact Dean or myself and we will make sure that Herb gets the donation. Our home telephone number is 208-683-1980 or you can send donations to PO Box 422, Bayview, ID 83803.
On another subject:
I am wondering just who the new owners are for Boileau's 83 slips. Will a new personality bring a much needed shot of new life to Bayview? Is it possible that with the start of cooler fall temperatures, Bayview will find new fresh winds blowing into the marina area. Will the Grinch finally find his match?

Final Class and end of summer
Wow, I have been taking classes for so long now that I have finished my last class for my last degree I do not quite know what to do with myself. I find me wandering through the house with no real purpose, actually completing book that I have longed to finish reading.
Dean is putting together an area in the garage so I can work on my stained glass projects again. Many projects and lots of beautiful glass for me to play with. The last project was a bear free form for my son-in-law. That project ended being completed in my laundry room because it was so horribly cold that year. I could not work in my room because the glass kept shattering. I have a pattern that I promised to complete for my daughter, it seems that other projects always take first place.
I finished reading "The Help" today. The book was mentioned at the last 55+ dinner we attended, which by the way the next dinner is September 14 at the Community Center starting at 5:30pm. Having lived in Alabama during the era that book was written about brought memories to me. I can remember the "white and colored" drinking fountains in the court house and the colored maid my next door neighbor had. I also remember being taught that the nigras were really lucky that the white people took care of them during slavery days. I also remember hints of the KKK. James Brown, The Shades of Blue, and Aretha Franklin. What was written on the pages of The Help is poignant but I believe this book does not fully grasp the feeling of those days. Great book I recommend the reading of it.
The Chamber meeting is on Tuesday. This should be a lively meeting as the Chamber is discussing next years Bayview Daze and the street lights.
I had a comment made to me from a person that lived in the Seattle area concerning the mess we had with this years Bayview Daze. This comment really upsetme because it seems that other comments have been made concerning the late decision that the Chamber had no control over. I want whoever reads my blog to know that what occurred this year was in no way the fault of the current board, they simply inherited the issue and could not move forward since Lakes Highway refused to issue a permit until the two parties involved came to an agreement. The current board for the Bayview Chamber have done an outstanding job dealing with the issues that have come before them.
Show up for the Chamber meeting and help us decide how we are going to proceed next year for the July 4th celebration, a tradition that needs to continue as a Chamber function.
