Oktober Fish



                Celebrating outdoor activities and the Fall fishing season, Ralph’s Coffee House is sponsoring the Lake Pend Oreille South Enders Derby October 6th and 7th. Included in the sponsorship of the event are the Captain’s Wheel, Southwest Fuel and Chad Cadnum Construction. This is a yearly event for fisherman on Lake Pend Oreille.

                The derby will have a kick-off event on Friday October 5th starting 6:30 pm at The Captain’s Wheel located in Bayview, ID., 16908 Pier Rd, Bayview ID.  The starting event will be an auction and free dinner for ticket holders. Tickets are available at Ralph’s Coffee House 16716 Alma Court, Bayview ID 208-683-2218. Folks are invited to bring an item for the Auction that Ralph will be running. Food for the buffet will have a German influence with brats, starting about 7:00 pm.

                The original derby occurred way back in 1948 with the intention of bringing commerce to Bayview. The Derby was again started in 1960 by The Bayview Chamber of Commerce, the derby ran for several years but was dis-continued, finally the Derby was given a new life coming back to Bayview in 2005. 
               
                Prizes will be the coveted Golden Trout Traveling Trophy. A special Mackinaw Division with a $2,000.00 prize is sponsored by Idaho Fish and Game this year. Other Divisions include the Kamloops Rainbow with awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd largest by weight. All fish will be weighed at The Captain’s Wheel for consistency and fairness. Other divisions include 1st and 2nd place largest by weight as well as 1st and 2nd place for aggregate weight; this means 2 day combined weights. Winners will be announced on Sunday October 7th at 4:00 pm at The Captain’s Wheel.

                All fishing sportspersons need to be aware of “Know your Bull trout”. Special cards for identification purposes will be available at Ralph’s.

  1. I edited out a name because a local person was upset. This comment may elict an article not completely sure how I will proceed.
    My perception is some people locally still perpetuate the "hate" thinking. It is time to let go of the past and move forward if one dares.
