Stan Richardson and Chauncey

Update on Stan Richardson:

We had a quick conversation with Vicky as she was walking from the post office, gotta love small towns!

Stan is doing well, still in the hospital but he came out of his 9.5 hour surgery with flying colors. If you want to send cards or letters to Stan his home address is: PO Box 366, Bayview, ID 83803. Stan would love hearing from you all.

Chauncey:

I had a brief visit with Chauncey last Wednesday. He is to Mill River Seniors, 3505 N Sunapee Loop, Coeur d’ Alene, ID 83814. The Centers phone number is 446-8337. I am sure that he would for us to keep in touch with him.
Treasuring our elderly or our dear friends is very important to them as well as for us!

Stan is home. At this time I do not have further information, since Dean is a lousy secretary.

Chauncey is moved and in Coeur d' Alene now.

Just, just for the fun of it!

Every year the Bayview Chamber of Commerce sponsors a Christmas for the young and young of heart at the Bayview Community Center. This year was no different and it seems all those who attend enjoyed an evening of Christmas carols plus a visit with Santa before he embarked on his long journey. Three of his helpers, Judy, Jenny, and Ted, started the evening with carols. All gathered around the outside Christmas tree while waiting for Santa to arrive, the lighting of the festive tree created a collective exclamation of joy from those present.

Santa does not always need a chimney to come to visit, so he arrived with ease to spend the evening talking to the children gathered for the occasion. Listening carefully, Santa made note of Christmas wishes, to include requests from those who are young at heart! A wish for new Mercedes was on one of these ladies Christmas list

All of the children received a small gift from Santa, the children taking delight in Santa’s presence on this night before Christmas.

So this is the tale of Christmas at the Center, another successful event! Many thanks to the absolutely awesome volunteers who helped make this a success: Santa of course, Marsha, Ken and Marilyn, Jamie, Jim, and Alex, Dennis and Sue, Judy and Dave, Ted and Bev, Jenny and Bob, Tom and Jackie, Chauncey, and many others. We all enjoyed the cookies, coffee, and cocoa!

Merry Christmas to All,

New Look and LOU

Thought I would try this new template, let me know how you like it!!!

A word from Jackie concerning LOU!

Hi all, next week, the 18th is the last LOU of the year.  We will reconvene on Jan 8th.  Our menu is Roast Beef (already purchased), mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and garden salad.  It is also the last time Chauncey will attend since he is moving into an assisted living center in CDA.  So I need help as usual with:

Mashed potatoes (3 10lb batches)
Desserts
In the kitchen I will need help with salad prep, gravy making, set-up
clean-up
Also jello salads seems to hit the spot if anyone is so moved.

Please let me know what you can do if you can do anything.

This past week was our smallest attendance so far.  34in house, 10 take homes.  Thank you so much Dennis and Don for your wonderful chili...as well as all of our bakers.  I think things were very festive even with the small crowd.  Really enjoying this year.  Thanks again.

Passing On

I started writing this last weekend but as usual time ran out ...
" I have enjoyed my blogspot so, but sometimes I forget and let life get in the way. As I have stated previously, I am not a prolific writer nor am I a journalist nor do I want to be a journalist. I simply like to write what is on my mind, kind of like writing about the Grinch who stole Christmas. Gosh what is on the TV right now?
Lately, I quite frankly have been touchier and grouchier as well. Sometimes I think that I am handling my sisters impending death well but all of sudden I start crying for no particular reason. This has had me somewhat bewildered.
You see I got a call in October from my niece in Kentucky telling me my sister had fallen, not sure whether it was a stroke, heart attack, or seizure. The hospital quickly discovered that she had lung cancer that had spread into brain. My sister always has been rather stubborn. As we in the family talk it seems that this sudden collapse has been going for a long time, meaning years. It does no good to try and figure out exactly when the problem started the fact is she is going to die soon."
My sister passed away last night or actually early this morning. We as a family have survived the gamut of emotions since the diagnosis, anger, frustration, fatigue, hope, and resignation.
My niece has been soldiering on taking on the huge task of caring for her mother. I went out to Kentucky and helped get the move started, plus setting my sister up in my nieces home so she would not be left alone. Frustrations were caused by the sheer enormity of what had to be done, as well as, the frustration of the moving task itself. My sister had lots of antiques and lots of other stuff as well. Hope was part of the plan, the hope that she could indeed lick this awful monster. Fatigue for Meagan simply because of the continuous care needed everyday and fighting the realization her mother was probably not going to survive. Anger at Dr.'s who offered the hope of surviving longer if she took the radiation treatments, which did not happen.
There is a lesson here and I think Meagan taught us all one, take time out of your lives to show those you love you care.
Somewhere during this missive my mother is nodding her head and I'll bet anything Skip is there too.
"Weep not for me though I am gone;
into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will but not for long,
upon my soul's sweet flight.
I am at peace,
my soul's at rest.
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was blessed;
for all those many years.
There is no pain,
I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts.
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath;
remember not the strife.
Please do not dwell upon my death,
but celebrate my life."
-- Constance Jenkins
Just this past weekend again I looked at the diamond bright glints in the recent ice crystals trying to figure out how to capture that which has captivated me for so long
"Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there - I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints in snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
As you awake with morning's hush
I am the swift-up-flinging rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there - I did not die."

The menu for needed to be adjusted and we did not have time to make the adjustment in the Bylines.

Jackie has some appointments that created the need for a different menu:

Enjoy a meal and companionship. LOU is an opportunity to meet your neighbors and just enjoy yourself.
