Pay It Forward Dinner

On September 28th 2013 at 6:00 pm the American Legion Auxiliary will host  its annual “Pay It Forward” dinner. The dinner was started as a means of collecting food items for the ABC Food Bank located in Athol and in remembrance of Ellie, who believed the way to return a favor is to “Pay It Forward.” All of the supplies to cook the meal are donated from local merchants. The price of admission to the dinner is a suggested donation of $7.00 or food donations to the ABC Food Bank.

This dinner was started in remembrance of a dear friend. Ellie taught me to return a favor by paying the favor forward. The last year that Ellie was in Germany she left her fully decorated Christmas Tree, households goods, and bedding with Norma Jean and her family. Her only request was to pass the gift on to someone else in need.

We have chosen this dinner to also remember three ladies who gave so much to our communities Laverne, Shirley, and Fran.

Thank you everyone for your continued support,

Norma Jean Knowles

Note from Taryn Fran Harms Grandaughter:

am working on something special for Grandma and am looking for pics of her and/or pics of her with friends. I know A LOT of her friends are via the Legion. People can email me photos at tarynahecker@gmail.com or I can scan and return prints. I would like to find a pic of her playing pool, too. If you can share this email, that would be greatly appreciated. If anyone asks, Grandma is requesting no visitors. She is very tired and said she wants to rest. She may change her mind so if anyone has questions or wants to know how she is doing I have my cell phone 208-661-3891 and grandpa has his, too

Labor Day Breakfast and 50/50 Winner

We had a steady turn-out of folks stopping by for breakfast. I always enjoy the way people come to visit at these functions. No one is in a rush and all are welcome. Thank to everyone who have this function successful.
We all have a great time and of course a visit from the Goat-Cow.

The winner of the 50/50 raffle was Martin Abell. I guess that is our way of paying him, lol, for his volunteer time, just joking. Martin and his wife Terry were one of the many who helped with the breakfast but I will devote my thanks on another post.

Goat Cow front and center, where is he now?
I think he needs to visit Bayview Scenic Apartments!

Love to All,
